The American College
of Apothecaries (ACA), with support from the ACA Research & Education
Foundation, established the ACA Research & Education Resource Center
in 1998. The center is home to the ACVP National Training Center. The purpose of the Center is to provide technical and
professional information to help pharmacists develop and strengthen their
innovative pharmacy practice programs. Functions of the Center include:
- Assisting practitioners
in developing new and innovative practice sites,
- Providing advanced education
and training programs in disease state management,
- Responding to individual
requests for information from pharmacy practitioners,
- Responding to requests
for information from other health care professionals concerned with
pharmacological and therapeutic components of health care, and
- Strengthening the management
skills for individuals developing and maintaining private pharmacy practices
throughout the United States and Canada.
The ACA Research & Education
Resource Center is located in Bartlett, Tennessee, a suburb of Memphis. The
building (as pictured above) houses a library containing hundreds
of books and journals related to topics ranging from marketing and
management of your pharmacy to establishing a disease management
program and measuring economic outcomes.
The ACA Research & Education
Resource Center provides an Inquiry Support
Line for practitioners to use. The Center is designed to
help ACA Fellows and other health care professionals find answers to their
questions. Each inquiry is handled by the Center's professional
staff and consultants with additional support from experts in pharmacy
and medicine from throughout the United States.
