Join your fellow colleagues at the training center in Memphis, Tennessee for an exciting two days in equine medicine.
This two day program will be taught by Gigi Davidson, RPh, DICVP, FACVP, Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Dinah G. Jordan, BSPh, PharmD, DICVP, FACVP, Chief of Pharmacy Services and Associate Clinical Professor, College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to understand the pathophysiology and recognize clinical signs of common and less common disease states affecting equine patients. You can provide detailed drug information pertaining to veterinary- and human-approved drugs used in horses as well as being able to make appropriate decisions regarding the use of compounded products in equine medicine based on available scientific and current clinical information. You will be able to identify drugs, excipients and compounding vehicles that may be inappropriate for equine patients based upon metabolic limitations and you can demonstrate techniques and skills for administering oral, topical and parenteral drug therapies to equine patients. This course will teach you to demonstrate basic physical examination skills for evaluating and monitoring equine response to drug therapy and to be effective in marketing pharmacist services to the equine veterinarian.
